Situation

Paradigm Building Group approached me to revamp their online presence. I had created their first website a few years earlier. Paradigm wanted to update the visuals on the site, introduce new content, and integrate into a content management system (CMS).

Task

I needed to:

  1. work with the client to develop a content strategy,
  2. develop a new design language that would extend their corporate branding,
  3. map the expected content,
  4. choose a CMS that would be cost-effective,
  5. schedule and conduct discovery and review meetings,
  6. and build the site.

Actions

To start, I assembled notes on my client’s target audience to guide my ideation on visuals and branding. I used this audience profile to create mood boards of what the site could look and feel like. My client was a high-end builder, so I used materials and textures that were commonly used in new home builds.

I took my client’s required content and mapped the information architecture, including  the site’s main navigation.

I created a new WordPress theme for my client. Given the variety of content types, I used plugins to build Admin areas in WordPress for my client to easily create different content types. First, I used Pods, then later transitioned to Advanced Custom Fields.
